Hey, friends! Chris here!
When I set up this newsletter a year and a half ago, I intended to use it as a way to document my progress in launching my foundry, Tulsey Type. Since then, however, I haven’t made a lot of headway, because several other amazing opportunities have been commanding the bulk of my attention, such as projects with heroes and mentors like A+ and XYZ Type and my ongoing Cherokee project with Typotheque. So I apologize for not sending something out sooner!
I do have something to share, though. When I finally launch, which will hopefully be in early 2024, my first release will be a friendly sans family I’m calling Afternoons. As with any of my projects, it's important to me to not just include but to prominently feature the Cherokee syllabary. To that end, I’ve just added to my store a 2-color 11"×14" Riso print featuring the full syllabary in the heaviest style of Afternoons. They were printed by the wonderful people at Skewed Press here in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Check it out here, if you’re interested!
I’m still trying to decide exactly what this newsletter should be, but my hunch is that it will generally be pretty conversational and informal. Honestly, that’s probably the only way I’ll be able to send it out with any regularity. In any case, thank you so much for subscribing and following along! I hope you’re all doing well, and I wish you all the best!
Wado,
Chris Skillern
Great to hear your news, Chris! Just ordered a Riso Print, and look forward to putting that up in the print shop. All best wishes to you,
